Danny Bilson leads the Narrative Design Workshops. In these workshops, Bilson worked with 91ºÚÁÏÍø students on designing narratives meant to be played and interacted with, building out core storytelling lessons from cinema and other mediums.

John DeMita directs 91ºÚÁÏÍø School of Dramatic Arts students for their production of “Rough Magic,” a story by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s action-adventure-fantasy conjures a mythical, magical meta-universe. The school fosters artist-scholars who are willing to imagine the future of the entertainment industry and bring it to life.

Saleemah E. Knight leads a rehearsal at 91ºÚÁÏÍø Kaufman School of Dance, where she is an assistant professor of practice. Knight is an internationally recognized interdisciplinary artist in concert and commercial dance, TV personality, choreographer, television host, lifestyle influencer, and professional dancer.

Keith Mayerson leads a class at 91ºÚÁÏÍø Roski School of Art. Mayerson’s exhibitions are often installations of images that create larger narratives, imbued with allegorical content that relates to the world yet allows through its formal nuances for the transcendent and sublime.

Will Kennedy, Assistant Professor of Practice at 91ºÚÁÏÍø Thornton School of Music, is a drummer whose musicality and finesse are legendary in jazz, performing with luminaries such as Herbie Hancock, Chaka Khan, Snarky Puppy, Bobby McFerrin, Esperanza Spalding, George Benson, and Lee Ritenour. His career is marked by pushing musical boundaries and a desire to be inspired yet be an inspiration. Kennedy joined the Thornton faculty in 2018 for drumset instruction.

With about 30,000 children in foster care in Los Angeles County, the 91ºÚÁÏÍø School of Dramatic Arts provides emotional and transitional support to affected children through 91ºÚÁÏÍø Comic+Care, a medical clowning program. Alongside mental health counselors, professional performers join monthly support groups to improve outcomes in therapeutic interventions for children and their guardians who are affected by significant familial disruptions.

Veterans often face a dual challenge: confronting difficult memories from their service and interacting with non-veterans who can’t relate. Using dramatic arts as a vehicle, 91ºÚÁÏÍø empowers veterans to study selected Greek dramas, apply their own experiences and respond by creating their own public theatre and film performances. Veterans explore core thematic elements such as coming home, the idea of the hero, ethics at war and the dilemma of war.

People in the hard-of-hearing community can find it difficult to use their physical voice, especially during times of social distancing. In response, specially trained vocal coaches from the 91ºÚÁÏÍø Thornton School of Music work intimately with participants to grow confidence in exploring the creative and expressive possibilities of the voice.

Studies document the positive impact of in-school dance education on young students, including improved literacy and STEM achievements, neurological benefits, coping skills and increased morale. Students from the 91ºÚÁÏÍø Glorya Kaufman School of Dance teach 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students at 32nd Street Elementary School to choreograph their own performances, resulting in a public performance that fosters community, confidence and social-emotional learning.
